Consolidometer (Broadbent)

The densometer (Broadbent) began operating in 2012 and aims to compact a soil sample to a predetermined stress and degree of compaction through a controlled force exerted by an actuator. It allows vertical stresses of up to 400 kPa to be applied to the standard test box.

The equipment can be divided into three main parts: the control panel, the compressed air preparation box, and the actuator. In addition, another key part is the sample box, but it is considered a separate piece of equipment.
